What happens to the addresses you check.

Your checks

To verify an address we contact the recipient's email provider. We never send a message to the address, and its owner is never notified.

What we store

• The address you check and its result, so repeat checks are fast. Conclusive results are kept for up to 30 days, inconclusive ones for one day, then deleted.
• After 30 days any stored address is replaced by a one-way hash.
• General facts about the address's domain, kept for up to 7 days.

Your IP address

We use it, in memory only, to limit how many checks one visitor can run. It is not stored in our database. Our web server may keep standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention.

Third parties

For some valid addresses we may look up whether a public profile picture exists, using a one-way hash of the address and not the address itself. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and we set no cookies.
